This half term's core value: Perseverance

Theme for this week (20-24 April): ‘Perseverance to finish the job’

The way in which our students think of those around the world who are less fortunate than us always amazes me. Our main overseas charity that we work with is ‘To Kenya with Love’ http://www.tkwl.org.uk/ and we sponsor a number of students via this charity to attend school. This week we look forward to welcoming Chris Wheat who works for the charity and brings us an update on how ‘our’ students are doing. Last week Mrs Capjon’s assemblies highlighted the work of another charity based in London http://webberstreet.org/ and we now have collecting boxes for any loose change in reception and the canteen.

On Tuesday we welcome back to the school Fran Williamson, six-time paralympic swimming medalist and five-time world champion for another inspirational assembly.

This half term's core value: Perseverance

Theme for this week (13-17 April): 'Persevering with the truth'

I hope that everyone has enjoyed a very 'Happy Easter' and is refreshed and recharged ready for the summer term. My thanks to Mrs Caldwell for leading yet another superb History trip during the holidays. The party covered 9 countries in 9 days and have memories that will stay with them for life.

Prior to the break we had a visit from Ofsted to inspect our 'Alternative Provision'. This focused on those students who attend College as a key part of their curriculum. I am delighted with the report as it illustrates the excellent contribution that these opportunities make to our students learning. You can read the letter containing the report in the 'Information for Parents' section on our homepage www.ashs.org.uk

Good Luck to Year 10 for their exams starting this week and to those Year 11's sitting the iGCSE ICT Practical exams on Tuesday and Wednesday.
